Advent is a beautiful season of getting ready – both for the joy of Christmas and for the hope of Christ’s return. Starting on the first Sunday of Advent and leading right up to Christmas Eve, we’ll journey together through themes of hope, peace, joy, and love. With simple traditions like pausing for quiet reflection, sharing prayer, and practicing generosity, we take time from the rush of the lead-up to Christmas and rediscover the deeper meaning of this season.
Our programme is about slowing down and letting Advent renew our hearts. It’s a time to reflect, recharge, and prepare to welcome the Prince of Peace with expectant faith and compassionate love. Come as you are—let’s walk this Advent journey together!
See below for what’s on during Advent and we encourage you to join us, and to extend this invitation to family & friends.

Wistaston Hall Oblate Retreat Centre, Crewe is offering a number of Advent Retreats including a weekend and a number of day options. Set in the beautiful and tranquil grounds of Wistaston Hall, a retreat is an opportunity to pause and take some time out for some spiritual renewal in the midst of the busyness that surrounds all of us at this time of year. Pope Francis teaches us that, “Advent is the season for remembering the closeness of God who came down to dwell in our midst.”

An Advent retreat helps us to look forward to Christmas and a new year, but it’s also an opportunity to look back and ponder on how the past year has been for us. This retreat is an invitation to spend some time in the presence of a loving God who is waiting to welcome us and nurture us.
