The Oblate Family Morning Prayer: Tuesday 28th January 2024

Good morning, dear friends. You are very welcome to our Oblate Family Morning Prayer. We join Fr Michael Brady OMI in Inchicore for this morning’s time of prayer on Tuesday of week 3 in Ordinary Time, January 28th.

Gospel | Mark 3:31-35

“Who are my mother and my brothers? Those that do the will of God”

Fr Michael reflects: ‘The mother and brothers of Jesus arrived. Now why did they call? Earlier in Mark’s gospel we see a conflictual situation of people who are negating what he came to affirm, and negating him because of his affirmation – people that didn’t love as he loved, and were jealous to some degree of the appeal that he had of those who needed the love that he brought… It began to be obvious around that he was getting into trouble. And in that situation we read that his mother comes down. She’s with him at the beginning of what ended up on the cross.’
