Oblate Lay Congress 2022 Update By Mary Tyrell
Since the canonisation of St Eugene de Mazenod, founder of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate many people are seeking to know more about St Eugene and the Oblates of Mary Immaculate and share in the Oblate Mission.
The Oblates have acknowledged this in their Constitutions and Rules. In Rule 37a it is explicitly stated that we are all invited to live in the spirit of St. Eugene.
“The charism of St Eugene de Mazenod is a gift of the Spirit to the Church, and it radiates throughout the world. Lay people recognize that they are called to share in the charism according to their state of life, and to live it in ways that vary according to milieu and cultures. They share in the charism in the spirit of communion and reciprocity amongst themselves and with the Oblates.” (Rule 37a)
This is the first worldwide Congress for Oblate people since the Aix congress in 1996. It is time to evaluate what has happened since then. To connect once more with all people involved in the Oblate mission and rejoice that it is being supported by the prayers and actions of Oblate people all over the world.

The Aim of this Congress is to share locally, and regionally, and at the congregational level, the depth and variety of ways of connecting with various groups of laity joined through the charism of St. Eugene de Mazenod.
