Morning Prayer: Thursday 14th October With Mary Tyrell
We join Mary Tyrell in England for morning prayer.
‘Jesus said: “Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets whom your ancestors killed. So you are witnesses and approve of the deeds of your ancestors; for they killed them, and you build their tombs.’ – Luke 11:47-54
Today’s gospel is difficult to read, even frightening. The chosen people had killed God’s prophets, and Jesus’ contemporaries ratify this by attacking him. The presence of evil is not just a problem of the past either, it is in our own midst, in this generation, even in our own country, committing cruel acts against innocent persons and peoples. Take some time today reflecting on the last 24 hours. What is happening in your own area that you can do something about? We pray that we will always choose to be on the side of good, truth and justice, with the grace of the Holy Spirit.
Thanks for joining us this morning.
