Morning Prayer for April 1st

Good morning everyone, and welcome to morning prayer with Pauline Thomas, from Anglesey.

In today’s reading, the plot to kill Jesus intensifies. The chief priests and Pharisees are threatened by his success. He is envied. His honour and fame mean their disgrace. The chief priests and Pharisees meet to decide what action to take. They say ‘if we let him go on in this way, everybody will believe in him, and the Romans will come and destroy the holy place and our nation’. While Caiaphas was promoting Jesus’ destruction, he states that Jesus’s death will benefit the people – saving the nation by killing Jesus.
