September 19th: Join Gerard Bennett from the Oblate Lourdes Pilgrimage team for our morning prayer. Please join with us later today as we begin our virtual pilgrimage.

“If I, then, the Lord and Master, have washed your feet, you must wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example so that you may copy what I have done to you.” – John 13:12 – 15

September 18th: Join Mary Tyrell for today’s reflection. Today’s gospel mentions the silent contribution women made to the ministry of Jesus and it reminds us all of those quiet disciples, men and women, whose lives, prayers and pennies have contributed to the church throughout the ages.

“Jesus made his way through towns and villages preaching, and proclaiming the Good News of the kingdom of God. With him went the Twelve, as well as certain women.” – Luke 8:1

September 17th: Join Pádraig Corcoran, Oblate Youth Worker, for our reflection to begin today at 8.30am.

‘Who is this man, that he even forgives sins?’ But he said to the woman, ‘Your faith has saved you; go in peace.’ – Luke

September 16th: Join Fr Frank Ryan OMI in St Joseph’s, Colwyn Bay for our morning reflection on this the feast day of Saint Cornelius and Saint Cyprian, two christian martyrs of the early church.

“But as we have the same spirit of faith that is mentioned in scripture – I believed, and therefore I spoke – we too believe and therefore we too speak, knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus to life will raise us with Jesus in our turn, and put us by his side and you with us.” Saint Paul

Today, September 15th, is the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows – join Fr Frank Ryan OMI in St Joseph’s Colwyn Bay for a short reflection this morning.

“Jesus said to his mother, ‘Woman, this is your son.’ Then to the disciple he said, ‘This is your mother.’ And from that moment the disciple made a place for her in his home.” John 19

September 14th: Good morning once again – join Fr Vimal OMI for our reflection today on the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

Wirings”Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost but may have eternal life. For God sent his Son into the world not to condemn the world, but so that through him the world might be saved.” – John 3:13-17

September 13th:

Good morning, please join Fr Vimal OMI in Colwyn Bay, North Wales for a reflection on the main theme of today’s scripture -forgiveness. What is forgiveness and what does it mean to forgive? “Peter went up to Jesus and said, ‘Lord, how often must I forgive my brother if he wrongs me? As often as seven times?’ Jesus answered, ‘Not seven, I tell you, but seventy-seven times.” – from Matthew 18 “Forgive your neighbour the hurt he does you, and when you pray, your sins will be forgiven.” – Ecclesiasticus 27

September 12th:Join Mary Ryan in the Sacred Heart Church, Quex Road for our morning prayer today. Reflecting upon the metaphor used by Jesus in today’s gospel, Mary shares how her experience building in central America has helped her realise how Jesus is the foundation of our faith, and has helped her pass that faith onto others in her work.

September 11th: Join Fr Michael once again this morning for our prayer at 8.30am,
“So though I am not a slave of any man I have made myself the slave of everyone so as to win as many as I could. I made myself all things to all men in order to save some.” – Saint Paul

September 10th: Love your enemies: “Jesus said to his disciples: ‘I say this to you who are listening: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who treat you badly.” Join Fr Michael Brady OMI for morning prayer.

September 9th: Kirk’s Morning prayer is focused on Gospel quote: ‘Rejoice when that day comes and dance for joy!’ (Luke 6:23). The reflection is accompanied by a liturgical mime in accompaniment of spiritual song ‘O my soul’ by Don Moen – a text from the Prophet Isaiah. It is person’s soul being raised up as if being on Eagle’s wings. It is God who raises us up, especially when we feel stressed, weary, tired or feel like giving up on life!

September 8th: Jason is a support worker with the Kairos community trust  and has been a volunteer with the Oblate pilgrimage in Lourdes for six years, helping the sick and assisted pilgrims.

Jason, who is in recovery from addiction, shares with us his remarkable experiences of how he discovered hope, strength and faith. Today, on the feast of Mary’s birthday he gives thanks for Mary’s “yes” to God and shares how we can, growing in faith ourselves, help others to live and realise the wonder that God is with us.

September 6th:
“You must love your neighbour as yourself. Love is the one thing that cannot hurt your neighbour; that is why it is the answer to every one of the commandments.”

Join Kay Curran in Dublin again this morning for our prayer and reflection.

September 5th: Join with Kay in Dublin for our morning prayer. Kay is a volunteer worker with the Oblate Pilgrimage to Lourdes and has been travelling for many years. Today is the feast day of Saint Teresa of Calcutta who spent her life working with the “poorest of the poor”. In her reflection, she tells us how today’s scripture reminds us to be thankful for the blessings that we do have, even the little ones. “What do you have that was not given to you? And if it was given, how can you boast as though it were not?” – St Paul

September 4th: In life generally, change isn’t always easy. Nor is moving from the old to the new, from judgement to forgiveness, from the familiar to the unfamiliar.

Yet we must move forward and live our lives.

Jesus says ‘ I have come that you may have life and have it in abundance’.

Join Teresa from Donegal once again for our time of prayer together. #prayer #abundance #life #jesus

September 3rd: DO NOT BE AFRAID. I AM WITH YOU. MAY EACH OF US HAVE THE COURAGE TO LISTEN, SEE and RESPOND to those around us in these strange and difficult times. Remember, Jesus was not interested in Simon telling him he was a sinner. Jesus was not interested in leaving Simon. Jesus ignore his remark, and instead asked Simon to TRUST in him and NOT TO BE AFRAID. Join Teresa from Donegal for our prayer and reflection this morning.

September 2nd: Dear friends please join this group of young friends in Darndale who are joining together in prayer, reflection and a short time of meditation.

September 1st: Today we join Pádraigín for our morning prayer on September first – marking the first day of the “Season of Creation” – where we are encouraged to contemplate God’s wondrous work of creation all around us. This Season of Creation let us challenge ourselves to both appreciate and take better care of our common home, the earth, and every individual person as God’s creation.

August 31st: On the feast of Saint Aidan of Iona and Lindisfarne, join Pádraigín Clancy of St Michael’s, Inchicore for our morning prayer. As Pope Francis says, let’s not go around with funerial faces, let’s look and act as if the Resurrection happened! Today is a day of hope, we embrace the hope of the Resurrection in a new way as we remember Saint Aidan and his hope as he brought the gospel from Iona and Lindisfarne out across Britain.

August 30th: Join Fr Dominik in Bluebell again this morning for our prayer and reflection. In today’s gospel Jesus rebukes Peter for his dismay at what would befall him in Jerusalem. Peter had been with Jesus long enough to know that being a disciple meant risking people’s scorn and misunderstanding. Jesus told Peter that anyone who wanted to be mercy and love with joy to all, no matter the personal cost.

August 29th: Today is the memorial of the beheading of Saint John the Baptist. Join Fr Dominik in Bluebell, Dublin, for prayer and reflection this morning. “When he had heard him speak he was greatly perplexed, and yet he liked to listen to him.” (Mark 6:17-29) What was it about John the Baptist that was so compelling to Herod? Brothers and sisters, the holy spirit lives in you and is calling you to reach people with God’s love and mercy. How can you do this in your life?

August 28th: Today is the feast day of Saint Augustine of Hippo. Join Fr Eduardo for our short prayer this morning as we pray and reflect together on the parable Jesus presents to us in today’s gospel reading from St Matthew – the parable of the ten bridesmaids. A call to truly live out our faith in Christ before it is too late and an invitation to a new beginning.

August 27th: Join a group of young friends from Dublin for our morning prayer, reflection and song, today we reflect in a short conversation on today’s gospel reading. Today is also the feast of Saint Monica – an early African Christian saint and the mother of St. Augustine of Hippo. Enjoy this morning’s prayer and reflection.

August 26th: Join with Eileen McLaughlin in Towerhill, London, a member of the Friends of Saint Eugene, for a short prayer on this the feast day of Blessed Dominic Barbieri an Italian theologian and a member of the Passionist Congregation prominent in spreading Catholicism in England. He contributed to the conversion of John Henry Newman

August 25th: “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! … You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel!” – Today’s gospel offers us an opportunity to think about our day – Lord guide us to notice what upsets us and what we neglect. Join Fr Michael O’Connor OMI in Darndale for our short prayer this morning.

August 24th: Today is the feast of Saint Bartholomew – it is thought that he was also known by the name of Nathanael whom we hear about in today’s gospel reading (John 1:45-5). Fr Martin adds a short reflection on this piece of scripture in this morning’s prayer for August 24th.

August 23:  This Sunday morning, we gather with Fr Martin Moran OMI from the Oblate parish of St Mary’s, Star of the Sea in Leith, outside of Edinburgh, Scotland. Martin invites us to reflect on today’s Gospel (Mt 16:13-20). And in this Gospel, we hear Jesus ask his disciples: “But you, who do you say that I am?

Can we answer as Simon Peter did? “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” And perhaps we might take this a step further to ask: “And who am I and who are you?” Do I have a deeper sense of who I am as a loved child of God?

August 22: Mary reflects on the message from today’s Gospel (Mt 23:1-12) and how we must be wary of those whose message is one of hypocrisy, “You must therefore do and observe what they tell you; but do not be guided by what they do, since they do not practise what they preach.” She quotes a line from the Rite of Ordination when the candidate is told to: “Believe what you read; teach what you believe; practice what you teach.

Unlike the Pharisees, we must humble ourselves, not seeking a seat at the front, or a place at the top table. For as Jesus instructs the disciples in today’s Gospel: “The greatest among you must be your servant. Anyone who raises himself up will be humbled, and anyone who humbles himself, will be raised up.

August 21: Our Morning Prayer is led today by Mary O’Brien, a senior member of the Oblate Lourdes Pilgrimage team. Mary lives in Dublin.

Mary reads from the Gospel of the day (Mt 22:34-40) where we hear Jesus answer, when questioned about which is the greatest command of all: “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself.

If we believe that God is in everyone about us, then as Mary reflects, when looking at the face of God in another, surely we cannot but love that other person?

Finally, Mary reminds us that today is the anniversary of the apparition at Knock, Co Mayo, in Ireland, one of the network of Marian shrines worldwide. On the evening of August 21, 1879, a heavenly apparition occurred at the gable wall of the parish church when Our Lady appeared, in the company of St Joseph, and St John the Evangelist. Unique to the apparition in Knock, was the appearance of the lamb, standing before a Cross, on a plain altar and surrounded by angels.

August 20: Join this morning with Kirk Jacob, an Oblate Adult Faith Worker based in London, for our Morning Prayer reflection. Today is the feast of St Bernard of Clairvaux (1090 – 1153), patron saint of bees and beekeepers.

Kirk draws from a part of the first reading in today’s Mass when he reads from Ezekiel 36:24-26. The extract finishes with the words: “A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

By this, we can truly become God’s people as God’s Word in verse 28 assures us: “Then you shall live in the land that I gave to your ancestors and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.

August 19:  Join with Pádraig Corcoran who leads our Oblate Youth Service as we gather for our Morning Prayer reflection today.

Pádraig reflects on today’s Gospel (Mt 20:1-16) where we listen to the Word of God as Jesus tells us the story of the vineyard owner who goes out many times during the day to find workers and then, at sunset, pays all of them the same. It is a scene that in human eyes is so unfair. However, this parable is about seeing through the eyes of God, not human eyes. God loves us all; he treats us all fairly. With God, it is not about the time of the day when we turn to Him; it is that all of God’s love is there for us no matter when we go to Him.

August 18: Join with Mary Tyrrell of the Oblate Partners in Mission team for our short prayer time this morning. Mary reflects on the words of today’s Gospel (Mt 19:23-30) in which is contained God’s promise of eternal life for those who follow Him.

Mary reminds us powerfully that, as we gather this very morning, there are people out in the world, often in the poorest and most war-torn parts of the world, who have answered God’s call to follow Him. These are the missionary priests, sisters, and lay missionaries. Sometimes, as with Jean Donovan in El Salvador, they give up their very lives. Just two weeks before she was murdered, she wrote to a friend: “Several times I have decided to leave El Salvador. I almost could, except for the children, the poor, bruised victims of this insanity. Who would care for them?

And there is Mary’s own son James who is working with street children in Sierra Leone and who has placed the needs of those for whom he cares above the option to go home during this time of pandemic. And so, Mary asks us the question: “Do I believe that God will ask anything of me that I am not, without God’s help, capable of doing?

August 16: With the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven being observed today in Scotland, England, and Wales, Fr Irvin Morastil OMI from the Oblate parish of Our Lady, Star of the Sea in Leith, outside Edinburgh, Scotland, continues his reflection on this great Feast. He shares with us his thoughts on the role of Mary in our salvation history as well as how Mary is the model and exemplar of our Christian faith. Fr Irvin reminds us that it was because of the Divine privilege shown to Mary that this Solemnity reminds us the greatness Mary enjoys is solely because of her relationship with Christ.

August 15: This morning, join Fr Irvin Morastil OMI from the Oblate parish of St Mary, Star of the Sea in Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland. On this, the Feast of the Assumption, Fr Irvin recalls the pronouncement by Pope Pius XII on November 1, 1950,of the dogma of the Assumption of Mary into heaven, during which he wrote: “The Immaculate Mother of God, the ever-Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.” Fr Irvin reflects on the message for today and finishes by inviting us to: “proclaim the wonders the Lord has done for us.

August 14:  Join with Pauline Thomas today as she focuses on the feast of St Maximilian Kolbe, who volunteered to die in place of a stranger in the Nazi death camp of Auschwitz during World War 2. Pauline reminds us how this act of love echoes the words of St Matthew’s Gospel: “Whatever you did for the least of these, my brothers and sisters, you did it for me.” In the Gospel reading (Jn 15:12-17) Pauline also reminds us that Jesus Himself calls to love one another and how it is written in verse 13: “No one can have greater love than to lay down his life for his friends.

August 12:  Join Fr Liam Griffin OMI in Inchicore, Dublin for our Morning Prayer. He reflects on the message in today’s Gospel (Mt 18:15-20), that talks about resolving conflict, about the need to love and reconcile with our sister or brother. Liam leaves us with the question: “With whom do I need to reconcile?

Jesus asks us to listen to him and we are reminded that the Holy Spirit is always with us.

August 5th: Dear friends, we invite you to join Irene Darby, a member of the community of Cemaes Bay and Amlwch on the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales.
