Join Mary O’Brien from Dublin for Morning Prayer on Monday, July 12. Morning Prayer, Monday July 12
Mary suggests that today’s Gospel (Mt10:34-11:1) is, at first reading, difficult to understand. However, the words of a hymn she learned many years ago might give an insight into the message that lies within for all of us:
“O Lord, all the world belongs to you,
And you are always making all things new.
What is wrong, You forgive,
and the new life, You give,
is what’s turning the world upside down.”
God’s message is counter-intuitive, it turns the world upside-down: “Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.” Holding true to the values of our faith may require a struggle in this world, but when do, we are choose life with God.
