Morning Prayer - Friday, August 14 - Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate
Pauline focuses on today being the feast of St Maximilian Kolbe, who volunteered to die in place of a stranger in the Nazi death camp of Auschwitz during World War 2. Pauline reminds us this act of love echoes the words of St Matthew's Gospel: "Whatever you did for the least of these, my brothers and sisters, you did it for me." In the Gospel reading (Jn 15:12-17) Pauline also reminds us that Jesus Himself calls to love one another and how it is written in verse 13: "No one can have greater love than to lay down his life for his friends."
