About Us

Oblate Lay Associations Congress May 2022

What can you do to get involved?

How are the voices of lay people heard in our Church today?
Would you like to be involved in a conversation about lay people and the Oblates?

In May 2022, the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) will hold a second Congress for all those from around the world who identify with, or are associated with, the Oblates.

GET INVOLVED!

In preparation for the Congress, the lay delegates from our Province want to hear the voices of, and take input from, all those throughout England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Denmark, the island of Jersey, all who identify with this Province and who are associated with the Oblates through our very many activities; our parishes, the Friends of St Eugene, our Partners in Mission, and our Lourdes Pilgrimage.

Oblates Lay Associates Congress 2022

WHAT IS THE AIM OF THE CONGRESS?

It is to share locally, and regionally, and at the congregational level, the depth and variety of ways of connecting with various groups of laity joined through the charism of St. Eugene de Mazenod. It is to celebrate it, connect with others, and commission us to continue living the Oblate mission in our lives, by taking an active part in that mission where we are.

THIS MEANS YOU!

Will you join in conversation with us?
Your voice is important!

WHAT DO I DO NOW?

1. Make a decision now that you will become part of the conversations leading to the Congress. Share your thoughts with the delegates to the Congress.
2. We will soon issue further information about how you can get involved, whether in person, or online. Watch out for this!
3. Join with us in praying the Congress Prayer.

THE CONGRESS PRAYER

Loving and creator God, we praise and thank you for all You do and have done for us.
Following Jesus our loving Saviour and in the footsteps of St Eugene, as members of the worldwide Oblate family, we seek to serve You, the Church and each other with gentleness and most importantly to serve the marginalised and abandoned people in our areas.
St Eugene urged his followers to leave “nothing un-dared” for the Gospel. May this be our constant hope and prayer too. Inspire all members of the Oblate family to live, work and pray together so that the Good News of salvation will be seen and heard through our words and actions.
We pray especially that the Spirit of God may grant us an increase in our love and unity as Oblate People as we prepare for the Congress next May.
