The Oblate Family Morning Prayer: Monday 5th August 2024 With Sr Anne Petit

Good morning dear friends. We join Sr Anne Petit in London for our Oblate Family Morning Prayer on Monday, 5th August, the 18th week in Ordinary Time. Sr Anne is a member of the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart congregation.
Gospel | Matthew 14:13-21
The feeding of the five thousand
Sr Anne reflects: “In this passage there is a clear Eucharistic element in the story. The way in which Jesus prayed, blessed, broke, and distributed the bread. The breaking of the bread, which is another name for the mass, is very important because it indicates sharing and not just eating. The Eucharist is the celebration of a sharing community. If sharing of what we have in real life is not taking place, then the Eucharist becomes just a ritual and nothing more.”
Thank you for joining us this morning.
