The Oblate Family Morning Prayer: Saturday 3rd August 2024 With Mary and James Tyrrell
Good morning all, we join Mary Tyrrell, and her son James, in The Wirral for our Oblate Family Morning Prayer on Saturday, 3rd August, the 17th Week in Ordinary Time.
Gospel | Matthew 14:1-12
The beheading of John the Baptist
Mary reflects: “John the Baptist was a prophet, who provoked a variety of responses, probably because of his strange attire or his strange diet and was actually put in prison for declaring the union of Herod and Herodias was unlawful. He was telling us how it was wrong to take his brother’s wife as his partner when the partners were still alive. Jesus suffered too when he proclaimed the truth, and followers of Jesus are called to live the same way with courage and conviction. And that’s not always easy.”
Thank you for joining us this morning.
