Gospel Reflection for the 2nd Sunday of Lent The Transfiguration
The Transfiguration
It is doubtful that any of us have had the sort of experience that those with Jesus had. While they were with him on the mountain, Jesus is changed and transformed. They are privileged to be given a glimpse of Jesus in all his glory.
However, the voice they heard is very relevant and challenging to us as we continue our journey through Lent; ‘This is my Son, the Beloved, listen to him.’ As well as fasting and almsgiving, the third invitation of Lent is that we pray. However, there is a difference between saying prayers and praying. Yes, it’s important to be able to come to God in prayer saying prayers that we have known since our childhood, but it is also important to pray no with words at all, with the hope of hearing something, to listen not with our ears but with open and listening heart. As we continue our Lenten journey, may our prayer be, Speak Lord, I am listening.
