Pope Francis’ Message after the Synod on the Family – A workshop by Fr. Frank Morrisey OMI

Fr. Frank Morrisey

Speaking at the end of the Synod, Pope Francis said:

“The Synod was not about settling all the issues having to do with the family, but rather attempting to see them in the light of the Gospel. …. The Church’s first duty is not to hand down condemnations or anathemas, but to proclaim God’s mercy, to call to conversion, and to lead all men and women to salvation in the Lord”.

There will also be an opportunity to reflect on the changes made by Pope Francis to the rules for nullity of marriages in the document “The Lord Jesus, the Gentle Judge”. Pope Francis said the changes in the annulment process were motivated by “concern for the salvation of souls,” and particularly “charity and mercy” toward those who feel alienated from the church because of their marriage situations and the perceived complexity of the church’s annulment process.

VENUE: Oblate Retreat Centre, Wistaston Hall, 89 Broughton Lane, Crewe, Cheshire CW2 8JS.

In this workshop Fr. Frank will explore the message of Pope Francis following the 2015 Synod on the Family.
