Virtual Pilgrimage to Lourdes
Starting on the evening of Saturday, September 19 and finishing on Wednesday 23rd, we will be hosting a ‘virtual’ Lourdes Pilgrimage. As you will know, because of Covid-19, the pilgrimage had to be postponed for 2020. Based on the theme, “Bringing Lourdes Home” we will use these few days to prayerfully bring Lourdes into our hearts.

Invitation: Virtual Pilgrimage to Lourdes
Starting on the evening of Saturday, September 19 and finishing on Wednesday 23rd, we will be hosting a ‘virtual’ Lourdes Pilgrimage. As you will know, because of Covid-19, the pilgrimage had to be postponed for 2020. Based on the theme, “Bringing Lourdes Home” we will use these few days to prayerfully bring Lourdes into our hearts.
We invite you to send your petitions for the pilgrimage, either to lourdes@oblates.ie or to the Mission Office, Oblate House of Retreat, Tyrconnell Road, Inchicore, DUBLIN 8, or for those of you in the UK you can send them to the Oblate Retreat Centre, Wistaston Hall, 89 Broughton Ln, Crewe CW2 8JS, UK. We will send more details soon on how you can join with us for these special days.
Outline of our Virtual Pilgrimage: Bringing Lourdes Home
This year’s virtual pilgrimage will take place online from the 19th-23rd of September.
You will be able to join the pilgrimage events here on our website – or if you prefer, on our facebook page or youtube channel (see links below). These events will be online and are brought to you from our Oblate centres of mission, parishes & friends in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Jersey. While we would have loved to have been together in person for these events, we have maintained small groups in line with Covid-19 restrictions to ensure the safety of all. Please God we will all be together in Lourdes next year.
- Night Prayer with the Oblate Youth Service on Saturday 19th of September at 7.00pm
- Morning Prayer on the 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd at 8.30am
- Holy Mass on the 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd at 12.00 noon
- Holy Rosary with Oblates friends and parishes in Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and Jersey – Sunday 20th of September at 7.00pm
- Way of the Cross with the Kairos Community Trust, London Monday 21st September at 7.00pm
- Service of Missioning from the Lourdes Grotto in Inchicore on the 23rd at 7.00pm
- Join the live Torchlight procession in Lourdes at 8pm pm on the 22nd of September
Events will take place each day at 8.00am, 12noon and 7.00pm.

Opening Service with the Oblate Youth Service Join the Oblate Youth Service, who serve our assisted pilgrims so wonderfully each year in Lourdes, in the Oblate parish of Saint Michael’s, Inchicore as we begin our Virtual Pilgrimage together with a time of Taizé prayer and song before the Cross. Our pilgrimage candle is lit by Laura Bascaille in Lourdes. |

Morning Reflection with Bishop Ray Field Bishop Field is a former barrister, a member of the first successful Irish expedition to Mount Everest in 1993, and also served as a prison chaplain and head chaplain of the Defence Forces. In September 1997 he was appointed Titular Bishop of Ard Mór and Auxiliary bishop of Dublin. He has accompanied the Oblate Pilgrimage to Lourdes for many years. |

Opening Mass – 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time Celebrant: Fr Lorcan O’Reilly OMI – Fr Lorcan is the Director of the Oblate Pilgrimage to Lourdes and currently director of the Oblate Retreat centre in Crewe. Joining him today is Fr Vincent Mulligan OMI Director Emeritus of the Pilgrimage. |

Morning Reflection with Sinéad Hanafin Peg Hanafin, author and poet, was an assisted pilgrim who travelled to Lourdes with us for many years. Peg sadly went home to God this summer and her daughter, Sinéad, presents a reflection Peg had prepared especially for this Virtual Pilgrimage. |

Mass of the Immaculate Conception Celebrant: Fr Liam Griffin OMI – Fr Liam is part of the Oblate Provincial Administration and ministered in Lourdes to English-speaking pilgrims for ten years. Join today’s mass from the “Irish Lourdes” – the Lourdes Grotto in Inchicore. |

The Way of the Cross with Kairos Community Trust This very special Way of the Cross is brought to you by the Kairos Community Trust in London – a charity working with a thriving community of men and women recovering from lives of addiction and homelessness across London. For the past 10 years members of Kairos have volunteered with the Pilgrimage in Lourdes. |
