Advent, a time of Hope: Daily Morning Prayer and Reflection, December 1st With Fr Lorcan O’Reilly OMI
Friends, you are invited to join Fr Lorcan in the Oblate Retreat Centre, Wistaston Hall, Crewe for morning prayer on the 1st of December.
In today’s scripture text we see a beautiful example of Jesus’ compassion and tenderness. In his reflection on this text, Pope Francis invites us to try and imagine this scene in the gospel. A crowd had just seen a powerful example of God’s generosity and concern for his children. During Advent we prepare ourselves to celebrate the Lord. Jesus asks us to question our viewpoints and our certainties. Let us not be afraid to say this Advent that we are hungry, like the crowd to experience the multiplication of the Lord’s mercy.
Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for the crowd, because they have been with me now for three days and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, for they might faint on the way.” Gospel: Matthew 15:29-37
We thank you for sharing this time of prayer together this morning.
