Morning Prayer for Saturday January 1st Feast of Mary Mother of God

We join Fr Ray Warren OMI, director of the De Mazenod House Retreat and Spirituality Centre, London once more for our New Year’s Day reflection and prayer to begin this year of 2022 on the celebration of Mary the Mother of God.

The shepherds hurried away to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. When they saw the child they repeated what they had been told about him, and everyone who heard it was astonished at what the shepherds had to say. As for Mary, she treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart.

That beautiful reading brings us once more to the scene of Bethlehem and as we look upon Mary and Joseph and the child Jesus in the manger, as we stand on the threshold of this year, Mary stands with us. She ponders with us as we wonder and ponder about our own lives and our futures and will walk with us throughout this year.
