Feast of Saint Polycarp :
Morning Prayer February 23rd with Fr Vimal Parunanthu OMI
Friends, we join Fr Vimal in St Joseph’s Colwyn Bay, North Wales for our prayer this Wednesday February 23rd. Today is the feast of Saint Polycarp and today we ask for the protection and perseverance for persecuted christians around the world.
St Polycarp was born in 65 AD and a disciple of St John. He was highly regarded during his life. He was martyred by the Roman Empire for being a christian and refusing to pay divine homage to the Roman Emperor.
“John said to Jesus, ‘Master, we saw a man who is not one of us casting out devils in your name; and because he was not one of us we tried to stop him.’ But Jesus said, ‘You must not stop him: no one who works a miracle in my name is likely to speak evil of me. Anyone who is not against us is for us.’” – Mark 9:38-40
Thank you for joining us this morning.
