Today’s morning reflection and prayer with the Oblate Family, March 5th With Ros Appleby
Join Ros Appleby again in England as she reflects on the calling of Levi.
A local pariah, Levi is despised for who he is as a tax collector, and for how he earns his living. Jesus notices him and calls him and Levi follows him, leaving everything behind.
Levi in his own joy has discovered his worth in the sight of God – his life is transformed and he rejoices in his repentance. Help us to recognise ourselves as poor sinners in constant need of your grace. Help us to fast from self concern and feast on concern for others.
“Jesus noticed a tax collector, Levi by name, sitting by the customs house, and said to him, ‘Follow me.’ And leaving everything he got up and followed him.” – Luke 5:27-32
