Oblate Family Morning Prayer on the 9th of March With Pádraig in Dublin
Today we join Padraig Corcoran in Dublin. Pádraig is a member of the Inchicore Pastoral Area Team and the Oblate Youth Worker.
The Gospel that Pádraig reads today is one that is read during Lent is a tough one to listen to – Jesus calls a whole generation evil! He points to two people who turned their lives around, using them as an example of those who converted.
Jesus tells them that the generation that he is with now – has more than Jonah ever had – while Jonah and the Queen of Sheba were given the gift of wisdom, they have the Son of God with them, yet they don’t see this. He challenges them to look toward him and to walk with him.
Like Jonah, and the Queen of Sheba, Lent is the perfect time to convert, to start again. And we aren’t on our own in this, let us remember all of our generation, all of us who are on earth together, and pray for one another to come back to Jesus. We have more than so many had before Jesus arrived on the earth.
At the judgment the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because at the preaching of Jonah they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here.” – Luke 11:29-32
