Mother’s Day Kilburn : Photos of the celebration in Sacred Heart Church Plus: RCIA group receive the bible
Some photographs from the Sunday Mass on Mother’s Day or Mothering Sunday in the Oblate Parish of Sacred Heart, Quex Road in Kilburn, London. There were over 300 families present in the church which was full to capacity.
During the mass, the RCIA* (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults ) group received the bible before their full reception into the Catholic Church at Easter.
Parish priest, Fr Terry Murray is pictured here wearing the rose-coloured vestments worn on the 4th Sunday of Lent, also known as “Laetare Sunday” which means “rejoice”! Indeed, pictured here are many reasons to be joyful on this day of celebration!
Today also marked the anniversary of Fr Terry’s ordination to the priesthood – 34 years of service and mission with the Lord. A presentation of a bouquet of flowers from the parishioners of Quex Road was made in honour of this occasion.
*RCIA is the process through which non-baptised men and women enter the Catholic Church. It includes several stages marked by study, prayer and rites at Mass. Participants in the RCIA are known as catechumens.
