Morning Prayer with the Oblate Family, Tuesday April 19th With Eileen McDermott
On Tuesday of Easter Week, we invite you to pray and reflect with Eileen McLaughlin, of the Friends of Saint Eugene, English Martyrs Parish in Tower Hill, London. Today’s prayer is recorded at the Wee House of Malin, Inishowen Peninsula in County Donegal.
In the gospel reading today, we hear that Mary of Magdala was weeping into the empty tomb, and she sees two angels where the body of Jesus had been. She did not recognise Jesus, and he asked her “Woman, why are you weeping?” Imagine for a moment being Mary Magdalene – the sheer terror and brutality of her past few days and death of her friend and teacher. She makes vigil by the tomb and empties her heart of its pain. Her friend Jesus was gone forever, she thought – but no, it didn’t end there!
Let us take a moment to allow the Risen Lord to fill our hearts with joy and hope, allowing them to transform us and transform others.
Thanks for praying with us this morning.
