We chose the first day of September – World day of Prayer for the Care of Creation – as the day for the launch of our work in this important area of mission and ministry. Pope Francis has set aside this day as a day of prayer, giving thanks for the gifts of creation. It also begins a month of thanksgiving for the fruits of the earth known as the Season of Creation.

We endeavour to publish a new video presentation every fortnight, speaking with a variety of contributors with expertise and experience working within the areas encompassed by JPIC, helping us to become more aware of some of the issues involved and what we might do as individuals, in our ministries and in the province to respond to this challenge. We hope you will journey with us as we embark on this new mission together – we would love to hear from you – your thoughts, ideas, highlighting initiatives in your Oblate parish or community that is part of this important ministry and already happening.

Following in the footsteps of those who have gone before us, we see this as our opportunity and challenge, to respond once again to the cry of the poor, those people most affected by climate change and the abuse of our common home. We need your help, we are all in this together.
