JPIC – Chat with Fr Tom McCabe of Oblate Mission Development

Fr. Tom McCabe is Director of the Oblate Mission Development Office in Inchicore. His ministry is at the heart of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation. Tom supports the work of missionaries in the poorer part of the world by working with them to identify various development projects for which Irish Government funding could be available. Processing their applications so that they comply with the government requirements is demanding and time-consuming work. The office also accepts applications for funding from missionaries for specifically religious projects, which would not be considered by Irish Aid. These grants are made available from the Oblate Province funds and from mission appeals undertaken by Tom at weekends in parishes. Tom is passionate about Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation and has facilitated workshops in Ireland and UK entitled “Be the Change”, inviting participants to be the change they wish to see in our environment.
