Morning Prayer with the Oblate Family: Thursday November 28th With Patrick O’Donoghue
We join Patrick O’Donoghue at Legion of Mary Headquarters in Dublin this morning for our prayer. Many of us have heard of this organisation and this morning Patrick shares a bit about this lay apostolate which is present in many parishes here and around the world. When the Legion of Mary members go out to the highways and byways, we encounter people who are going through all sorts of upheaval in their lives, and, like today’s Gospel passage, very often the happenings are outside of their control.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus refers to Himself as the Son of Man, and so he emphasises His humanity over His divinity. As a human He too, and His mother Mary, were to suffer a terrible calamity in their lives on Good Friday, but the resurrection brought joy. And so, as legionaries, our message to those in distress that we meet is one of hope: Trust in God and all will be well in the end, ‘stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand’.
Thank you for joining us this morning.
