A Reflection on Taizé Prayer at English Martyrs Parish Friends of Saint Eugene
The Church of the English Martyrs, Tower Hill, London, was beautifully lit with candles surrounding the Taizé cross display, as parishioners gathered for ‘Lenten prayer around the cross’ on Wednesday 10th April.
A time of Prayer and Taizé music was led by Kirk Jacob and the Friends of St. Eugene and we added our voices in prayer and worship with the beautiful words of the hymns. It was a very special time to reflect on the busyness of our working week. It was a time to prioritise our worries and a time to spend time alone at the cross and leave our fears, our thanks and our intentions in the hands of Jesus on the cross.
There was also some light refreshments provided by the Friends of St. Eugene which gave a further opportunity to share and meet new people locally and from the neighbouring parishes.
Hopefully we were able to make our way home, renewed in body, mind and spirit as well as being mindful of the power of prayer and solitude in a sacred space.
