Advent, a time of Hope: Daily Morning Prayer and Reflection, December 21st With Pádraigín Clancy
Good morning! We invite you to Join Pádraigín Clancy for morning prayer today on the shortest day of the year, December 21st.
Pádraigín is the parish pastoral worker at the Oblate Parish of St Michael’s in Inchicore, and is also expert in Celtic Christian Spirituality and traditions.
Listen to her prayer and reflection on the shortest day and longest night of the year, the Winter Solstice, and how that theme of darkness ties into the reading of today’s mass, which speaks of the Visitation of Mary to her cousin Elizabeth, both women are pregnant with new life, the child Jesus and John the Baptist, whom we are told leaps for joy when, as an unborn infant recognises the Lord Jesus.
For the moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb leapt for joy. Yes, blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled.’
We thank you for praying with us this morning.
