Advent, a time of Hope: Daily Morning Prayer and Reflection, December 4th With Gerard Bennett
Dear friends, join Gerard Bennett of the Oblate Lourdes Pilgrimage Team in Westmeath for today’s morning prayer for Advent.
Jesus felt sorry for the people he met in todays gospel – they were like ‘sheep without a shepherd’ – it was an emotional response. Jesus reacts in many gospel stories in an emotional way. Jesus is the Word made flesh. And emotions are an essential part of what makes us human. And that is the assurance of today’s gospel, that he suffers with us in our low points.
Then He said to His disciples: “The harvest is rich, but the labourers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers to his harvest.” He summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits with power to drive them out and to cure all kinds of disease and all kinds of illness. – Gospel of Matthew
We thank you for sharing this time of prayer together this morning.
