Bereavement Notice: Fr John McFadden OMI

Dear friends, we in the Oblate Community announce with the greatest sadness the death of Fr John McFadden OMI on Wednesday January 15th 2025 at 00:53 in the company of his beloved family in the Holy Rosary care facility of the Little Sisters of the Poor, Greenock in his hometown of Glasgow.

Our prayers are with the McFadden family, Fr John’s friends, the parish community of St Mary’s Star of the Sea, Leith, Edinburgh, and all those whom he worked with and ministered to over the years, from his many years in Prison Chaplaincy and Ministry to promoting vocations to the Oblate way of Life through his work in Vocations Ministry, and also his time working in parish of St John Ogilvie, Wester Hailes. 

Please join us in praying for the repose of his soul and for all those who grieve him.

May the Lord grant him eternal rest.
