Morning Prayer: May 25th, Fifth Day of the Novena for Vocations With Sr Katharina OMI
May 25th: This morning’s prayer during our vocations novena is brought to you by Sister Katharina Ramrath OMI, a member of the Oblatas Community in Madrid, Spain. The Oblate sisters were formed in 1997 and currently, the community is made up of 21 sisters from seven different countries (Spain, Germany, Ukraine, Poland, Peru, France and Slovakia).
The sisters live as Oblates in the charism of Saint Eugene – their mission is to announce the love of God to the people, to welcome those whom the Lord places on their paths, and to accompany them in life and faith. Sr Katharina is also a medical doctor and has worked with the Oblate Pilgrimage in Lourdes and also on the frontlines during the pandemic.
In our reflection today, Sr Katharina speaks of vocation as gift. Every vocation is a gift of love from God to each person and vocation is a gift from every person to God. Perhaps the words of Peter in the scripture reading could be our own words to Jesus. Each one of us is called in our own way to be the son or the daughter of God.
Then Peter spoke up, “We have left everything to follow you!” Mark 10:28

Gospel Reading 5th Day, May 25th
Peter began to say to Him, “Look, we have left everything and followed You.”
29“Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for My sake and for the gospel 30will fail to receive a hundredfold in the present age—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and fields, along with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life. 31But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first.”
