Morning Prayer with the Oblate Family: Friday November 24th With Kathy in Leith
Good morning friends, and thank you for joining us for prayer. This week, some of the parishioners of St Mary’s Star of the Sea, Leith will lead us in our daily morning reflection and today we join Kathy Barclay in Edinburgh.
Jesus regularly draws an unfavorable comparison between the religious leaders of the day who were deaf to his message, and the common people who hear and welcome what he is saying. Throughout history, Christianity has often fallen foul of political and religious leaders, resulting in persecution for those who follow Christ. But nowhere on earth persecutors been successful in doing away with Jesus.
Today, the church remembers and honours St Andrew Dũng-Lạc and companions who were martyred in Vietnam in the 1800s after heroically witnessing to the faith despite severe torture. Persecution of Christians continues in various places around the world today. Lord, help me to be one of the simple people who hears your voice and believes in your saving life and message.
Thank you for joining us this morning.
