Morning Prayer with the Oblate Family: June 13th
Dear friends, today June 13th is the feast of St Anthony of Padua. Join Fr Johnson in Sacred Heart, Kilburn for this morning’s time of prayer together.
The saint known as Saint Anthony of Padua was not born in Italy, the place called Padua, but he was born in Lisbon, Portugal. His birth name was Fernando. When he was at the age of 15, He joined the Congregation of Canons regular of St Augustine. Eight years later in 1220, Fernando learned the news about five Franciscan brothers who had recently died for their faith in Morocco, and their bodies were brought for the funeral in Portugal.
St Anthony said one in of his sermons, ‘Actions speak louder than words’. Let your words teach and actions speak for you. It is possible to a moment and reflect upon this.
St Anthony showed us how to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth through his words and actions. Help us to imitate him in our lives.
