Morning Prayer with the Oblate Family: Thursday June 9th With Margaret Hughes
Dear friends, we join Margaret Hughes, a member of the Oblate Parish Community of Darndale-Belcamp and principal of Darndale Junior School, for today’s morning prayer.
Today’s reading is from 1 Kings 18, and tells of Elijah going to the top of a mountain. “But the hand of the Lord was on Elijah, who girded up his clothing and ran for Ahab as far as the approaches to Jezreel.”
Today is the feast of Saint Colmcille, also known as Columba. He is one of the three patron saints of Ireland, the other two being Brigid and Patrick, and founded the great monastery on the island of Iona off the coast of Scotland, and is also credited as a great missionary-evangelist who brought the faith to the what is now known as Scotland.
Thanks for joining us today.
