Morning Prayer with the Oblates, Friday May 28th With Fr Vimal
In our morning prayer and reflection today, Fr Vimal shares with us a little bit about how he received his own vocation to the priesthood at home in Sri Lanka.
Why the Oblates? Fr Vimal admired the Oblates working in his village and their way of community life, missionary zeal, hard work and taking on difficult missions, and seeking new ways to be involved in the mission. And most of all by the Oblate cross that they wore. Fr Vimal reads some of the words of Saint Eugene de Mazenod, the founder of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate along with some beautiful images depicting his life. Today, Friday May 28th, is Day 8 of our novena and the theme is “the charism”.
“We are sent to bring the Good News to the Poor.” Isaiah
A Reading from the Prophet Isaiah, Day 8 of the Novena Prayer for Vocations, May 28th
“The Spirit of the Lord has been given me. He has anointed me. He has sent me to bring Good News to the poor, to bind up hearts that are broken, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to the imprisoned…to comfort those who mourn… He sent me to restore the ancient ruin s and rebuilt the cities that had been destroyed.”
