Gospel | Matthew 6:19-23″Store up treasure for yourselves in heaven”

Mary reflects on today’s gospel reading:
“‘For where your treasure is, there your heart will also be’ – what we consider valuable shows us where our hearts lie. Jesus distinguishes between external, earthly treasures that venerable to robbery or decay, destruction; and the internalized, heavenly treasures that endure whatever happens – treasures we might call the treasures of the spirit. These would include all the gifts of the Holy Spirit and all the virtues, especially love.

Mary, mother of the poor, pray for us and all people in need, but enlighten us with thankful hearts to truly appreciate what is of lasting value in our lives. “
