The Oblate Family Morning Prayer: Monday 10th June 2024 With Ciaran in Brazil
Dear friends, today we invite you to join Ciarán Leonard, a member of the Oblate Family, for our morning prayer from his home in Central Brazil again this morning.
Gospel | Matthew 5:1-12
How happy are the poor in spirit
Ciaran reflects on today’s gospel reading:
“They’re very strong words that Matthew uses in his gospel today. It tells us something of the vision that Jesus Christ has for our world, a world that is full of peacemakers, a world that is full of merciful people, a world full of those who comfort those who mourn, people who show mercy, and it challenges us. It’s a very strong challenge for us to live up to those words.
Not only does he ask us to do those things, but he blesses us so we receive the grace to be those people, to be peacemakers, to be people who strive for justice, to be people who comfort others, who show mercy. He blesses us. I don’t think it’s something we should let go lightly – the idea of being blessed by God and in turn and blessing other people. “
Enjoy the reflection this morning and thank you for joining us.
