Good morning. Welcome to our Oblate Family Morning Prayer on Monday, January 20th 2025, of week 2 in Ordinary Time. Today we join Patsy Thomas in Beaumaris on the Isle of Anglesey to lead us in our time of prayer this morning.

‘The bridegroom is with them.’

Patsy reflects: ‘Jesus is accused by some traditionalists that his disciples don’t fast, but he refuses to get trapped into a debate about the value of fasting on the traditions in the scriptures. But he uses a sort of common sense parallel. When he asks what normal person calls for fasting and mourning so long as the bride and bridegroom are present celebrating their marriage.’
