Good morning, dear friends. You are very welcome to our Oblate Family Morning Prayer. We join Ros Appleby in Birkenhead for today’s time of prayer.

“A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand”

Today’s gospel may be a bit hard to fathom. How often do we say United we stand, divided we fall? But how often do I find I tried to go it alone? Managed myself in my own little way?

I know that only when I stop to call out to the Lord when I’m so desperate that I need His help, only then can I dispel that sense of hopelessness; shove the sense of despair behind me, and start again afresh. Beelzebub, be gone. Without the Lord, I can do nothing. With Him. With the Lord, I can see a way ahead with Him to guide me. I will manage today and with his help the next day ahead.
