Good morning, dear friends. You are very welcome to our Oblate Family Morning Prayer. We join Sr Anne Petit, a sister of the congregation called Handmaids of the Sacred Heart, in London for this morning’s time of prayer.

“Jesus’ relatives were convinced he was out of his mind”

Why do people think Jesus was out of his mind? Maybe because he had abandoned a secure trade as a carpenter for a wandering life. He had run into trouble with the authorities in what seemed to be like a deliberate way. He had gathered an odd group of people around him. He healed the sick. He forgave sinners. He associated with outcasts. He taught people to love their enemies, to good to do good to those who hurt them. He claimed God was his father. The people of his day were puzzled by him.
