The Oblate Family Morning Prayer: Sunday 9th June 2024, 10th Sunday of Ordinary Time With Ciaran Leonard
Dear friends, today we invite you to join Ciarán Leonard, a member of the Oblate Family, for our morning prayer from his home in Brazil
Gospel | Mark 3:20-35
A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand
Ciaran reflects on today’s gospel reading:
“You might say today’s gospel is kind of a strange one, because what we have at the beginning, a reference to his family and then a reference to the Pharisees, who were the religious and civil leaders of the time and then again the the story finished with reference to his family. And here we see this interaction between the macro and micro level. At the macro level, Jesus is being attacked by the Pharisees. They accuse him of blasphemy. Blasphemy, of course, was not just a religious sin, if you like. It was also a civil crime for which you could be put to death. And then it moves on to talk about his family’s reaction to everything that Jesus was doing.”
Enjoy the reflection this morning and thank you for joining us.
