The Oblate Family Morning Prayer: Thursday 9th November 2023

Good morning and welcome to Morning Prayer, which is coming to you from Colwyn Bay, Wales. We invite you to join Br Michael Moore this Thursday, November 9th, of the 31st week in ordinary time. 

Jesus said, “Destroy this sanctuary and in three days I will raise it up” – John 2:13-22

Br Michael reflects, ” Today we meet an unusual Jesus. He is angry, almost violent, as he makes a whip and drives the money changers and traders out of the temple. The temple was a sacred place. It was the place where God was for people spoke to God and where people encountered God, but they had turned it into a place of trade and commerce to suit themselves and their own ends. Jesus says he will destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, and those who hurt him must have laughed when they said this.But as usual, they misunderstand what Jesus is saying.”
