The Oblate Family Morning Prayer: Tuesday 18th June 2024 With Pat Hughes
Today, we invite you to join Pat Hughes once again for our morning prayer from her home in Birkenhead, England. Pat is a member of the Friends of Saint Eugene.
Gospel | Matthew 5:43-48
“Pray for those who persecute you”
Pat reflects on today’s gospel reading:
“Following on from yesterday, when Jesus asked us to be nonviolent and generous, we are now asked to love our enemies. When I was reflecting on this, I thought, you actually have to start with loving yourself. Because unless you love yourself, you cannot love others. So you love you. You learn to love yourself. You love your friends and your family, and then you learn to love others and you learn to love others as that Bible reading states – by praying for them – pray for the ones that you don’t like as well as much as others. “
Enjoy the reflection this morning and thank you for joining us.
