Good morning! Thank you for joining us for our Oblate Family Morning Prayer. Please join Kirk Jacob, director of MAMI UK, in Bedford, England. Today is Wednesday 9th October, 27th Week in Ordinary time. Today is the feast of Saint John Henry Newman. An interesting fact for our Oblate family is that Newman had a connection with one of our former Oblate parishes. Saint Anne’s in Digbeth, Birmingham, where he was parish priest from 1849 to 1852.

Love one another

Kirk reflects: “The word to “lay down” – another word for us is “oblate” or “oblation”, which is an act of self-giving, selfless love. So Jesus’s oblation on the cross of the Good Friday for us is that self-giving love.”
