Listen means Act – Sunday Sermon, October 1st The Social Oblate
26th Sunday in Ordinary time, A(I)
“Listen means Act”
The history of Israelites shows us that nothing is more deadly to us than turning away from God by not listening to his word, but going a separate way. Then, even if we still occupy our formal address, we actually move away – our hearts start to drift, to wander towards exile. But here is the good news! Even when we choose wrong, our Father gives us the remedy to come back. It is to trust in His love, because His Word is given to you out of love. His commands are not oppressive rules to obey, but rather they are the signs of God’s parental care and guidance through the difficulties and dangers of the world.
“Shema Yisrael! Hear, my People! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one, and as for you, you shall LOVE the Lord your God with all your HEART, with all your SOUL, and with all your STRENGTH.”
