Wednesday July 17th had been marked on the calendars of the Friends of St Eugene in the North of England and North Wales for many weeks. The Friends in Holyhead were hosting a ‘gathering’ for the Rock Ferry, Crewe and Amlwch groups.

Five Friends make their first commitment as a Friend of St Eugene
20 members arrived for the 10am Mass in St Mary’s Church, celebrated by Fr Frank Murray OMI. During the Mass five Friends made their first commitment as Friends of St Eugene and the remainder renewed their commitment.
One of the promises made was to live the charism of St Eugene in their daily lives by praying, living simply with a spirit of openness to others especially the poor and marginalised. And through acts of Friendship, Service and Prayer make a difference in the world and the local community.
After Mass the group had coffee and cake in the parish hall. Calories were then burnt off on a cliff top walk and we returned for lunch followed by a quiz. (The result was dubious but everyone politely applauded the winners!)
It was a day of celebration, renewing friendships and making new friends.
