Advent, a time of Hope: Daily Morning Prayer and Reflection, December 10th With Fr Irvin
Today is the feast day of Our Lady of Loreto and this morning we join Fr Irvin of St Mary’s, Star of the Sea in Leith, for morning prayer once again.
Jesus and John represent the necessary dispositions with which one is to welcome the Kingdom of God and become part of it. John represents penance and purification, and Jesus represents jubilation and freedom
They indicate to us that there is no unique way of being holy, just as God accepts our uniqueness as person, God accepts our unique ways of being holy.
“‘For John came, neither eating nor drinking, and they say, “He is possessed.” The Son of Man came, eating and drinking, and they say, “Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.” Yet wisdom has been proved right by her actions.’”
Matthew 11:16-19
Thanks for joining us this morning.
