Advent, a time of Hope: Daily Morning Prayer and Reflection, December 11th With Heidi
Friends, good morning. We join Heidi Schofield in Trearddur Bay, Anglesey for our prayer today,
We are about halfway through Advent. Many of us will be bringing out our cribs and dusting off nativity scenes, getting them ready for the approaching feast.
However, in the gospel today, Jesus warns us that suffering is part of our daily struggles and being a follower of him.
Heidi draws on the writings of CS Lewis as part of this mornings reflection on this gospel.
The disciples asked him, “Why then do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”
11 Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things. 12 But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist.
Thanks for joining us this morning.
