Is it me, He is looking for? – Sunday Homily The Social Oblate
25th Sunday in Ordinary Time A(I)
“Is it me, He is looking for?” At the most awaited moments, when God himself makes his way to overcome our limitations, even weaknesses and sins, when he approaches us to help us to make another step, we cannot. We decide to do nothing. Think, just for a moment, what would happen if Matthew, wandering about Jesus’s call would answer: “naaah, it’s certainly not me he is looking for.” Imagine, what if the labourers would say to the landowner: “Yeah, right! Sure! You got us!” And yet, often it’s us who reject that awesome invitation. We tend to believe in so many lies and catches and empty promises given to us in the television and online shops. Some of them seriously so ridiculous… And when the Lord, the Creator of all wants to reconnect that link between us, we cannot believe it… That’s why he finally says that it is “the last who will be first,” because indeed, the kingdom belongs not to those who perform some dirty / heavy work. No! The kingdom belongs to those who truly love him. And that takes time to learn…
