Morning Prayer First Sunday of Advent
To Light a Path
Friends, you are very welcome to join Teresa Gallagher for morning prayer on this first Sunday of Advent.
‘Let us put aside the deeds of darkness, arm ourselves and appear in the light.‘ – Romans 13 :11-14
In todays scripture, Jesus is ringing the bell and telling us to grasp and embrace each precious moment. We only have one life. And our path is marked out for us.
Teresa has just returned from Birmingham, after spending some time with her very frail 98 year old aunt who has just died. The example of her life as a Sister of Charity of St. Paul explains, amplifies and emphasises the meaning of today’s reading.
She was a woman of courage and strength in times of diversity and change, she had genuine care and compassion, and used all her God given talents in the service of the most vulnerable in society.
May each one of us Light a Path for those around us and beyond us.
Through following the example of Christ, the Light of the World, may we be enabled to bring light and joy to this world where pain and suffering abound.
