Morning Prayer
Morning Prayer for February 16th With Fr Irvin Morastil OMI
Hello everyone, and welcome to morning prayer with Fr Irvin Morastil, from English Martyrs parish, in Tower Hill, London.
Today’s Gospel reading comes from the account of Saint Mark. It is of the time when Jesus asked his disciples who do you say I am? Peter responded that he is the Christ, after which Jesus told them that he was to suffer greatly. Peter remonstrated with Jesus, but the Lord had some stern words for him.
Irvin discusses how Jesus rebuked Satan in Peter, and how Peter, without intending it, placed himself in opposition to Jesus’ mission of dying and resurrecting. Peter is thinking merely as how human beings think, and not as how God thinks.
Thank you for joining us in prayer today!
