Morning Prayer Monday November 9th: Dedication of the Lateran Basilica With Fr Liam Griffin OMI
Morning Prayer: Monday November 9th
Join Fr Liam in Inchicore, Dublin for this morning’s prayer together.
On the feast day of the dedication of the Saint John Lateran Basilica, the mother and head of all churches in the city of Rome and the world, being the first to be constructed following the Roman emperor, Constantine, allowing Christians freedom to worship. We take a few moments to reflection on this and on today’s gospel, which is just as relevant today as it was in the time of Jesus.
“Jesus answered, ‘Destroy this sanctuary, and in three days I will raise it up.’ The Jews replied, ‘It has taken forty-six years to build this sanctuary: are you going to raise it up in three days?’ But he was speaking of the sanctuary that was his body, and when Jesus rose from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scripture and the words he had said.” – John 2
